See the Sounds seeks to bring new visualizations to a variety of songs. Artists are encouraged to choose a song that is lyrically based and create a piece around it. This particular song could be a favorite, one that has a strong emotional connection for one reason or another, or maybe it’s an overplayed song on the radio and you absolutely hate it. We want to see what imagery and thoughts come to light or feelings and reactions that you may have when you hear this song, the sounds, and lyrics that are being said.
Alongside each piece in the gallery will be a poster listing the musical artist, song title, and song lyrics for visitors to read and interpret while looking at the artwork. Whenever possible, a qr code will link to an audio of the song as well.
As part of our ongoing Second Saturday programming, TCAA invites visiting artists to participate in a 1-day trunk show, demonstration, or workshop. We've hosted journal-makers, painters, photographers, sculptors, culinary artists, and more, and have enjoyed their mini-exhibits, art sales, and classes. We delight in introducing our members to new artists and art forms, and our visiting artists enjoy the opportunity as well. If you are an artist or fine crafter who would like to get to know the Crossing Arts community, contact us for more information at email@example.com for details.
Call for Writers and Poets
The Crossing Arts Alliance is looking for writers and poets who would like to have their work shared in our newsletter, The Crossing Currents. We are looking to include a variety of literary styles, including short works of poetry and prose as well as selections from larger works such as novels (250-500 words). The Crossing Currents is published quarterly and is distributed to over 650 readers, and we would like to take advantage of this opportunity to feature our literary community and share their work with our broader readership. There is no submission deadline as this opportunity is ongoing.
If you are a writer and interested in having your work featured in The Currents, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
