TCAA Board of Directors
Pat Altrichter - President
The Crossing Arts Alliance has been a passion of mine since its inception 15 years ago. My family and I have lived in the Brainerd Lakes Area for 35 years where I was privileged to work as a teacher, principal at Nisswa and Whittier Elementary Schools and curriculum director in the Brainerd Public School District. Prior to that, I taught in Faribault, in southern Minnesota. I am a graduate of the University of MN and completed my graduate work at St. Cloud State University.
In my now busy retirement life, I enjoy serving on the Crossing Arts Alliance Board of Directors, our Lake Association Board, church Finance Council and the Alworth Foundation Board in Duluth. Golfing, hiking and kayaking are my hobbies, but…my true love is spending time with our grandchildren who are also here in Brainerd.

Mary Boran - Secretary
My name is Mary Boran, I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and business owner, and have been an art appreciator all my life. I especially enjoy encouraging children to "do" art, coloring, collage, collecting things in nature, making anything, and not just on paper. I have taught Art Appreciation as a volunteer for many years in both 4th and 5th grades in the public school. My philosophy of appreciating art, for both young and old is this: You don't need to "know" art or artists, you need only to observe and know what you like. Most recently I operated "Schoolhouse Frame Shop", my studio in The Franklin Art Center, retiring in 2014. My husband, Dave and I were members of the original Brainerd Arts Alliance (BAA) in the 1980's, and members of TCAA since it's inception. Currently, I am a Board Member of TCAA and serve on the Executive Committee as Secretary, and the Facilities Committee.

Brenda’s been a Crossing Arts board member since 2008, and served as Treasurer for the last 7 years. As owner of BK Bookkeeping, she keeps busy providing bookkeeping, accounting, and payroll services for multiple businesses. Her true passion is creating art using photography & post processing techniques. While photography has taken a backseat to work lately, Brenda remains involved as an active board member & treasurer for FocalPOINT Photography Club.
“I’m most proud of TCAA for introducing a variety of art media to the youth in our community. TCAA provides a safe environment for youth to explore their imaginations, while giving them an opportunity to shine in their own creations. Some of my earliest memories are the pleasures I felt when creating art through different mediums. The photography bug bit me the moment I started viewing the world around me through the lens of an instamatic camera; the relationship was sealed when I experienced the magic of a dark room firsthand!”
Brainerd has been home for over sixty plus years. After 35 years of teaching kindergarten, I enjoy spending time with my six grandkids, walking with my dog Charley(A.K.A. Charles Barkley), gardening, reading, playing sports and volunteering for various community activities...including TCAA. Bob and I travel as often as possible, but it is always comforting to return home to God's Country where our lives are enriched by nature's beauty, friendships, and diverse activities with local culture.
