“As the world warms, we all ask ourselves ‘What can I do about it?’. I have looked at my own art practice and I am struck with a frustrating reality: I create with polymer clay which is a plastic, the world’s most destructive material. But it brings so much joy to myself and my viewers! For this exhibit I would like to explore my “cognitive dissonance” that I am feeling, and I expect many of us are in this world that we are both trying to save and live our best lives in. Though I continue to use polymer clay I have added the use of more found objects- especially those that I already have in my house or that are given to me. This has become my compromise to my guilt at using polymer clay. I have challenged myself to use objects like styrofoam forms and other seemingly ugly garbage and try to make them beautiful. I have been creating a series of large scale animals that are affected by the way humans interact with the environment. These pieces are of varying scale from life size to larger than life size and are made of found objects and polymer clay. Each piece will tell the story of how we as humans and the animals are dealing with climate change.”

Discover the untold stories of the American frontier in artist Lyssa Lovejoy’s exhibition, “Wonders of the West”. This engaging showcase honors the vital contributions of Black individuals who shaped Wild West history. Each artwork tells a story of courage, showcasing dynamic rodeo scenes, serene ranch life, and the rich heritage of these pioneering figures, all rendered with vivid colors and powerful imagery. In contrast, the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers is brought to life through striking visual interpretations that honor their bravery and dedication.
